Kaukani was born to Olena, who jumped the pasture fence, perimeter fence, the neighbor's isolation pen, just to be with the Brown Swiss cows across the street. Specifically, the Brown Swiss bull. After a short eight month gestation, Olena gave birth in the early morning.
Rob Cole spent a lot of time with Kaukani so she could trust people. Olena and Maria both come when called, because he bottle fed them and spent time with them. Unfortunately when she weaned off of Olena, she became skittish around humans. On December 10, 2022 she died suddenly. The cause of her death is unknown.
