Why do we call the farm animals "pasture animals"?
When the animals we have rescued pass through our sanctuary gates, they are no longer considered "farm animals". We do not farm these animals. We do not exploit their female reproductive organs for our benefit. We do not take the eggs from the land, impregnate females for milk production, or kill them for food. We call them "pasture animals" because once they pass through our gates they enter a life of retirement. They can live out the rest of their lives in a safe and protected environment, doing what comes to them naturally.
Pasture Animal Project Support
We are looking to renovate and upgrade the temporary fencing, shelters and pastures that we had quickly erected for the animals during recent rescue events. Spreading the animals over a larger area of the land will provide a healthier, happier and safer environment for them. We will be able to rotate the animals around the pastures so that the fields themselves stay healthy.
We will be able to perform this work with the support of the community. If you would like to contribute to funding our projects, click the Donate button. To volunteer at one of our projects, go to the Volunteer page to review our upcoming projects and contact us with your interest in helping with one of them. Here is a short list of projects we are working on right now:
Pasture Renovation
The cow pastures have become overgrown with invasive plants and trees. We have been awarded a grant from NRCS to remove the invasive plants and trees and plant grass that the cows prefer to eat.
Shelter Renovation
We have several shelters that are in need of repair. As we fence off new pastures, new shelters need to be built. People looking to improve the living space of these pasture animals can contact us to help out. No experience is necessary.
